Cloud-native website for a therapy practice
In productionGitOps & Cloud · Software Engineering
Context
An occupational therapy practice in Germany ran a WordPress site on shared hosting. The goal: a maintainable, fast site with reproducible deployments.
Problem and constraints
- Keep the search rankings the old site had earned.
- Releases without any manual step.
- Limited access to the old hosting, which gates data recovery.
Architecture decisions and trade-offs
- A new containerised Next.js site replacing the old WordPress one.
- Kubernetes manifests organised with Kustomize (shared base, per-environment overlays) and a separate monitoring layer.
- A gated migration: recover what exists, inventory it, then transform it; an SEO baseline is captured before any switch-over.
Security and delivery
- Images published to a container registry and deployed by Argo CD.
- 22 tagged releases, the latest being v1.4.0.
- Monitoring in place, with a tested e-mail alert.
Results and current state
- Site in production on Kubernetes.
- Migration of the old site in progress: the first gate is waiting for full access to the old hosting.
